extents. The 8 th development plan of KSA states that the total water demand is
expected to be 18,260 million cubic meters in 2009 with an increase in demand

is needed in the coming two decades for saline water conversion projects.

will require up to 20 gigawatts (GW) of additional power generating capacity by
2019 at a cost of $4.5-$6 billion per year.
